He made the proposal at a meeting of the UNF at the health ministry yesterday (27), chaired by Rajitha Senaratne and also attended by Rauff Hakeem, Arjuna Ranatunga, Sarath Fonseka, Mano Ganeshan, Palani Digambaram and Karunaratne Paranawithana.
Wickremesinghe has summoned the UNF for a meeting at Temple Trees tomorrow to discuss the no-confidence motion.
Meanwhile, the president too, is of the view that Ranil Wickremesinghe should resign as the prime minister before the no-confidence motion is taken up.
