Why SLFP ministers wrote to president?

They say they are prepared to continue working with the party and the president.

 

However, political sources say the ministers have sent the letter to seek cover behind the president as they are unable to face their electorate while remaining as ministers after supporting the no-confidence motion.

 

They did not consult the president to take the decision to support the no-confidence motion, but are now saying they will resign only if it is the wish of the president. The best they can to is leave their ministerial positions and prove by action that they are against the government.
