He was addressing a public rally at Aluthgama urban council grounds.
He said the government that gave freedom to the people would not be destroyed and that the issues existing in it would be resolved. He also said the no-confidence motion against the PM was defeated with the support of the SLFP ministers and MPs too, and that it boomeranged on the joint opposition.
He also said the investigations into murders, corruption and fraud that were committed during the previous regime were progressing. The no-confidence motion aimed to escape from those crimes.
Senaratne also said the problems of the northern people should be resolved too. He stressed that the government had signed no agreement with northern politicians during the no-confidence motion or in any other instance.
