Addressing a media briefing yesterday (7th) in Jaffna, Spokesperson of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and MP M.A. Sumanthiran stated that Chief Minister of the Northern Provincial Council (NPC) C.V. Wigneswaran would not be chosen as the chief ministerial candidate for the NPC in the upcoming provincial council election.
Sumanthiran further elaborated that when the TNA approached Wigneswaran to be the chief ministerial candidate in 2013, Wigneswaran said that he would be the chief minister only for two years and then Leader of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) Mavai Senathirajah should assume the post for the rest of the years.
Sumanthiran went on to say that Wigneswaran had been requested to complete 5 year term, adding that he would not be asked for continuation of another term by respecting his wish.
