Japan likely to reject Ceylon Tea

He says that although Japan is yet to issue a warning, certain brands of tea have not fulfilled the quality requirements. The government has sought a six month period to settle the matter, he says.

 

Ceylon Tea’s international recognition has suffered a setback recently, with Russia briefly banning the imports. The content of harmful chemicals in tea has gone up due to the various weedicides being used. According to Dissanayake, Japan expects a quality higher than the quality sought by Europe.
