Two cane bombs found at Mahabodhi Temple

The bombs are yet to be diffused.

The police officials have confirmed that two cane bombs have been found at Bodh Gaya temple. The bomb disposal squad has taken the bombs to a remote area to diffuse them.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) had taken over security of the temple complex.

Tibetan spiritual guru Dalai Lama had just finished his sermon and retired for the day when the bombs were found. The month-long Kalchakra puja of Buddhist pilgrims is going on at the Buddhist temple.

The temple has also been the target of terrorist attacks earlier in July 2013 when a series of low-intensity blasts left 5 people injured, including two monks. The later arrested suspect Mohammad Umair Siddiqui had revealed that the blasts were intended to target international Buddhist tourists as a “revenge” for the alleged killings of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
