Enraged president throws cabinet papers, storms out of meeting

He strongly said UNP MP S.M. Marikkar was making remarks against him, and that the party should prevent such incidents from happening. UNP ministers too, responded by saying that the president too, should have been careful before saying, ‘pickpocket, thief’ etc. This developed into a war of words between the president and the ministers.

 

Then, the president threw cabinet papers away and stormed out the meeting. Immediately, Rajitha Senaratne went after and stopped the president, pointed out that if he had any disunity with the UNP that would be advantageous for the anti-government elements, and brought him back to the meeting.
