However, on two occasions, he has informed courts in Sri Lanka that his passport had been cancelled. If he remembers anything of what had happened in the recent past, president’s counsel Anil de Silva was his lawyer in the court case relating to the MiG deal. Appearing on behalf of his client, de Silva has told Colombo Fort magistrate Lanka Jayaratne that the cancellation of his diplomatic passport would be a human rights violation. The magistrate rejected it, and ordered the controller of immigration and emigration to cancel Udayanga’s diplomatic passport. Therefore, Udyanga cannot say he was unaware of it.
Later, during the period Ravi Karunanayake was the foreign minister, Udayanga has told the FCID that the cancellation of his diplomatic passport has disrupted his travelling for business purposes. Saying that, he has informed courts that he needed an alternative, which the FCID has included in the case file.
Therefore, it is very clear that Udayanga had known that his diplomatic passport was not valid any more. The ex-ambassador to Russia and Ukraine had lied mala fide. Authorities in Dubai can take court action against him on these counts.
Commenting on claims by Udayanga in facebook postings that he is clean, a senior official of the Attorney General’s Department said he was already named a suspect before courts. The Dept. is taking steps for his extradition.
