Health minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has instructed the national dengue prevention unit to hold programmes island wide. The first programme of the year will take place from 03 to 09 of April.
Around 13,000 dengue patients have been reported so far this year, which is a 50 per cent decline over the same period last year. A two-day prevention programme concluded today (23) in the western province and Batticaloa district with the participation of 450 teams of members of the armed forces, police and health officials. On the first day of the programme, 20,760 premises were examined and mosquito larvae were found from 2,941 premises.
