NPC Members in Geneva for the 37th session of UNHRC

Northern Provincial Council (NPC) members M.K. Sivajilingham and Anandi Saseetharan are in Geneva to seek pressure on Sri Lanka to deliver on its promises.

C.V.Wigneswaran, The Chief Minister of Northern Province said that, he was unable to travel to Geneva owing to other commitments but the two NPC members will ensure the NPC position on the human rights issue is conveyed to the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

The UNHRC is currently meeting in Geneva with Sri Lanka set to be discussed later this week and next week. The NPC members are to push the Council to ensure Sri Lanka sticks to its commitments on the human rights issue including transitional justice.

Sivajilingham and Anandi Saseetharan are to speak at the UNHRC during the ongoing 37th session as well as at side events.
