After the incident which flared up towards the end of the 'Nidahas trophy' match between Sri Lanka and Bangla Desh which created an uproar recently, the glass door of the resting-room used by Bangla Desh team members at Premadasa grounds was smashed after the match. Though it
was confirmed that Bangla Desh players were responsible for this vandalism, it was not revealed on the day of the incident as to who did it.A probe was launched by match referee in this connection when a worker at a canteen closeby had given evidence saying that though it was possible to identify those who smashed the glass were from the Bangla Desh team, he was unable to specifically mention who it was. Later though the Bangla Desh Cricket Association expressed their apologies in this connection in time and volunteered to meet cost of damages, they too had not stated as to who was responsible for this anti-disciplinary act.
Whatever it is, information has now been revealed in this respect after the CCTV survey. As such, it has been confirmed that it was Shakib Al Hassan who functioned as the captain of the Bangla Desh team that day who had done the damaged. Shakib had violated the rules by signalling the batsmen of their team to leave the field motivating them towards a protest and for challenging the umpires in the final over while Nurul had got involved in an unnecessary dispute. Both players were imposed a match fine of 25 per cent.
