Myths are overtaking the expert opinion with regard to an existence of a pill that causes infertility. The truth came out following tests into the incident at a hotel in Ampara.
A team of doctors yesterday (15) held a media briefing and explained the matters. All of them stressed that there is no pill that causes infertility. A woman using certain drugs in the long term could become temporarily infertile. But once such drugs are stopped, the infertility too, goes.
Environmental pollution, drugs and smoking have a worse impact on infertility, they said. All the birth control pills and vaccines are for women only and they only temporarily prevent conceiving, the doctors said.
Participating in the media briefing were Professors Chandrika Wijayaratne, Chandani Wanigatunga and doctors Upul Dissanayake, Kapila Jayaratne, Priyankara Jayawardena, Lakshman Senanayake and Anula Wijesundara.
