The then law and order minister Sagala Ratnayake did not heed the warnings about the racist acts before the Kandy incident occurred, Asath Sally alleges.
Speaking to the media in Colombo yesterday, Sally also said discussions at Temple Trees on preventing racial violence did not materialize. He said the IGP did not make any proper intervention in the matter as well. The police chief has shown his inability in the Kandy incident, said Sally. The IGP disregarded repeated requests to deploy an adequate police team in Kandy to control the situation, he also charged.
According to him, every time the present government took the correct path, there was a group that sabotaged it. The government too, disregarded calls for investigations into these saboteurs, Sally added.
