It was initially reported that the Ministry of Law and Order was to give Minister Rajitha Senarathna, but it was later concluded to not to change the Ministry of Health from his purview, considering his fruitful efforts to improve health services in the country, informed sources say.
Many of ministers has expressed their willingness for appointing Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka as the most competetive figure to the post. Their opinion was Sarath Fonseka willl take over the ministry and speed and fix up things to get the ministry in to the order. And also they are confident of that Sarath Fonseka will show up the same capability and ability to make the ministry efficient, as the highest military figure who played a prominent role in last weeks of civil war.
Under Sagala Rathnayaka, there were many loop holes and miscarriage of justice reported continiously within institutional and organizational frameworks of the ministry for last few years. It was very apparent that the law was not applied for certain people who were reportedly linked with or alleged for serious crimes, frauds and killing civilians including journalists.
