Member of National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka wherein I was fully involved with the Olympic Academy work inBandarawela organizing the residential course for University Students and represented NOC as Country delegate on International Forums such as ANOC, IOC Sports Conference, OCA etc. Currently he is the Director of National Olympic Academy SL and Secretary General of National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka. He was appointed as one of the Directors of Sports Administrative Course conducted by NOC SL for Sports Administrators in the island and Tutor of the Advanced Sports Management Course conducted in SL.

• He was the Chef de Mission, Sri Lanka contingent at the Commonwealth Games 2006 in Melbourne where we bagged a Gold Medal after 12 years, and I was again appointed as the Chef de Mission (SL Contingent) for the Asian Games held in Doha in December 2006.
• Mr. Maxwell De Silva was commended by Olympic Solidarity in producing Level III Tennis Coach ( one and only ) who came from war-torn Batticaloa town and doing a wonderful job now in Sri Lanka and for the 1st time Sri Lanka was depicted in Olympic Solidarity video in their annual report as a success story.

He has represented Sri Lanka in Basketball as a youth National player/National player and captained the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Team in the year 1981. As a Director Sports, SL Army, after following a Sports Management Advance Post Graduate Degree program in NZ, He has contributed immensely towards the development of sports in the Army and at National level. Mr. Fernando introduced Handball into the Army being the first Army Chairman of Army Handball Committee and Secretary General of the SLHF. Since entering into NOCSL in the year 2006, He was made the Technical Director of SAG

President of the Sri Lanka Hockey Federation Sumith Edirisinghe was elected as a Council Member of the Asian International Hockey Federation for a four-year period. He is a product of Nalanda College and represented the Police and Government Services hockey teams.
