The President, as the Minister of National Integration and Reconciliation had Gazetted the date of operation of the Office on Missing Persons act, No. 14 of 2016 as amended by Act No. 9 of 2017 to be 15 September 2017. Thereby, the constitutional council decided to publish paper advertisements in all three languages calling for applications for the appointment to the Office on Missing Persons (OMP) and paper advertisements were published in 09 weekly newspapers and 03 weekend newspapers.
A total of 105 applications were received and the preliminary evaluation of the applications was conducted by the three civil society representatives of the Constitutional Council who shortlisted candidates under different categories. The shortlisted applicants were provided with a common form to obtain further information from the candidates. The submitted documents were considered at the Constitutional Council and 07 names were recommended to the President for the appointment to OMP.
