AG’s Dept. makes contradictory submissions in Noyarh case

State counsel Lakmini Girihagama objected to a request by Karunasekara’s lawyers for bail, noting the the matter came under the firearms ordinance.

However, previously making submissions to the Colombo high court, senior deputy solicitor general Rohantha Abeysuriya told the court that the matter did not come under the firearms ordinance, and Karunasekara was able to obtain bail.

The AG’s Department is making contradictory submissions to the two courts in this case. It proves correct the allegations that a group in the Dept. is trying to sabotage the court proceedings into crime, corruption and fraud that were committed during the preivous regime.

The question is who is telling the truth – Girihagama or Abeysuriya.
