Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe said 980 students would be admitted after considering their basic qualifications.
He said the basic qualifications will be same as the qualifcations of students admitted to state medical faculties in the same year. The students will be given theoretical education at KDU and clinical training at state hospitals. A minor amendment to the KDU act will be effected to facilitate that, the minister said.
