However, he further mentioned more children are being admitted to hospitals than adults and it may be due to unnecessary fear about this disease. The provincial director further mentioned that it can be seen as a progressive step since it will help them obtain treatments beforehand.
Director of Karapitiya Teaching Hospital Jayampathi Senanayaka said two children have died on 25 th and 26 th May in Karapitiya teaching hospital due to influenza viral flu. He further said that the deceased were six months old and one and half year old.
So far 10 children have died of this viral flu. The hospital director said investigations have revealed that those deaths are caused by health complications, influenza, adino and several other viruses.
