After experiencing its adverse effects for around 30 years, most countries in Europe stopped using glyphosate. On April 17, the German agriculture minister banned its use on playgrounds due to the harm it causes to human health and biodiversity, said Kariyawasam.
He noted that glyphosate remains within the food chains of both humans and animals and that it takes around 20 years for its particles to decompose in the underground water sources.
