It says in 2016 and 2017, the UDA built 1,874 houses at a cost of Rs. 7,496 million and handed over to the needy. By May 2018, it has invested Rs. 5,756 m, built 1,439 houses and handed them over. The president and the prime minister will vest 437 houses, built at a cost of Rs. 1,748 m, in the public at Siyapath Sevana, Aramaya Place, Dematagoda tomorrow (10).
The UDA is presently constructing 9,100 houses at a cost of Rs. 42,330 m, with the hope of handing them over to the public by 2020.
Also, the Megapolis Ministry has taken steps to uplift the educational, sports and artistic talents of the children in these families as well as introduced self-employment and vocational training ventures for the youths.
